Our DNA-enriched NFT horses are impatiently waiting to reveal their full potential on the racetrack and to become the ultimate DeRace champion, bringing fame and riches to their owner.

Excited to join the races?

You will be able to race your NFT horses soon with the launch of the beta version of the game. Right now let’s take a closer look into all the important aspects of horse racing in the DeRace metaverse.

Races take place in hippodromes

Horse owners can participate in the races for a set fee. A limited number of participants are chosen for each race, based on pre-set selection parameters. The hippodrome owner determines both participation fees and other criteria before each race. The winner of the race collects a % of the participants’ fees and also any other additional prizes, which are then automatically transferred to the winner’s account.

Races are governed by controlled RNG technology

Chainlink’s VRF technology is utilized in determining the winning horse. The speed, stamina and conditioning of the NFT horse partly influence the winning chances but do not guarantee it completely. While generally faster and stronger horses have a higher chance of winning, even the slowest horse has a small probability to win thanks to the integration of Chainlink VRF.

What’s more, Chainlink VRF will ensure transparency of the process and results via an on-chain audit trail proving how its randomness was generated, which is a crucial factor to keep the community’s trust in the results of the races and DeRace platform as a whole.

Therefore, having robust and resilient horses can be an advantage but it does not guarantee victory. This is also true in real-life horse racing as the fastest horses are not always the ones to win the race.

Getting to know your horse

As in the real world, the hippodromes in the DeRace metaverse vary in track length and surface. Some racetracks are shorter, and some — longer distance. The tracks in the hippodromes also have a different surfaces: it varies among dirt, turf or synthetic.

DeRace NFT horses perform differently in various hippodromes: some horses are faster on dirt, some on turf and some on synthetic surface. Performance also depends on racetrack length: some horses are excellent in short distances while some are outstanding in long ones. You’ll have to race your NFT horse in different hippodromes to find out what type of races your horse prefers.

Consistency is the key

DeRace horses are differentiated not only by tiers but also by a level system. Make sure to race your horse regularly as the activeness score greatly influences which level your horse will be put in. Altogether, the NFT horse level will depend on the races participated, races won, and overall activity on the platform. Increasing the level also positively affects the market price of the horse and opens more gameplay oportunities.

Before and after the race

All planned races will be displayed on the upcoming races board. Players can access the board and filter the races by date, entrance criteria, entry fee, player quantity, hosting hippodrome, and winning pool, to select the most suitable ones to join.

After the race, the winner is announced and the prize is automatically allocated to the winners’ account. The horse’s racing cool-down process also begins after each race. The racing cool-down mechanism limits the number of races a horse can join within a specific amount of time. Like real-life horses, DeRace NFT horses also need some time to rest after a race before they are ready to compete again.

Fast forward to the future

Many more exciting additions are already in the plans to make horse racing in the DeRace metaverse even more exciting!

Performance boosting assets — which will be added to the game in the near future — are an important part of the races. They can be used to increase the performance of the racing horse as well as be given out as prizes to the winners.

Once in a while, special tournaments will be hosted in the dedicated hippodromes offering exclusive prizes. By participating in these racing events players will be able to acquire amazing prizes from sponsors like DeRace, Binance and many others and prove themselves as the ultimate DeRace metaverse champion.

One of DeRace’s core philosophies is to bring the most exciting and realistic gaming experience. From the way races are broadcasted to the victorious moment of crossing the finish line, our game design team is putting all their efforts and skills to make participating in horse races and especially winning them feel as thrilling as in the real world.
