Friday Development Updates: Part 16
Another week passed and it’s time to share the latest updates on the project!
As we are getting closer and closer to the beta launch we are currently focusing mostly on ironing out the race details. So let’s have a look at this week’s achievements.
Testing and tweaking race animations
This week we have fully hooked up our web animation build with our backend algorithm for race generation and we can see the horses racing in the hippodrome smoothly!
Now that we have the visual representation of the races both in 2D and 3D we can move this part of the development into the testing and tweaking stage.
In the beta version of the game both 2D and 3D visualisation of races will be available. Naturally 2D races will come in handy in case of limited accessibility to the internet.
Integration of smart contracts proceeding smoothly
We also started integrating the race smart contracts into the race creation flow. It’s still in progress but things are moving forward rapidly and soon we’ll have the full flow ready for internal testing.
The racing smart contracts govern the race registration logic as well as the payouts to the race winners. It will simplify the distribution of the winnings as the payouts will be automatically dropped into the wallets of winning horses’ owners.
Continuing the hard work on the hippodromes
This week we carried on with making the 3D hippodrome environment for the races even more detailed and realistic looking. We created two additional track surfaces to add variety to the hippodromes: synthetic and turf.
We also added some visual effects like dirt puffs from the hooves of the horses — it’s details like this that make the animation convincing.
We are working on adding sound effects, to make the races even more realistic! Currently we are focusing on the slow motion finish, which is very important, as it helps players to better understand which horse has won the race.
